ENGINEER

Duties You will apply engineering principles to analyze, evaluate, and improve the application of various manufacturing technologies, such as explosives machining, energetic materials, and non-destructive testing.
You will assist with cost estimate preparation and acquisition and project execution planning.
You will develop written procedures to include project work orders, quality project plans, standard operating procedures and other documents needed to support complex explosive and propellant manufacturing and development projects.
You will review and provide comment on complex specifications, engineering change procedures, and requests for variance to be used as part of a weapon system acquisition technical data package.
You will perform functions such chemical synthesis, traditional mixing, resonant acoustic mixing, pressing, solventless extrusion, nitration, melt/cast, and assembly to support the manufacturing of energetic materials.
You will assist with process development, scale-up, and/or manufacturing of energetic materials.
You will support manufacture projects/delivery of:
torpedo fuel, propellant grains, igniters, solid propellant rocket motors, cartridge/propellant actuated devices for aircrew escape systems, chemicals, nitrate esters, grenades, bombs, warheads, etc.
You will evaluate safety factors through hazard analysis, and develop quality program plans and monitor product quality.
You will implement manufacturing improvement initiatives and provide oversight of large scale and various first article testing of energetic components and systems.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-03 (GS-9/11 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer analyzing and evaluating technologies to develop process improvements for the manufacturing or testing of ordnance or energetic materials.
ND-03:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-02 (GS-5/7 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer completing assigned projects while performing duties for research, development, manufacturing, or testing of ordnance or energetic materials.

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
To be acceptable, the program must:
(1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics:
(a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
ORCurrent registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.
